FITTINGS WITH JOHNY DEPP, ORLANDO BLOOM AND JEFFRY RUSH FOR PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN

The well known movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ tells the stories about the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. The film was directed by Gore Verbinski and produced by Gerry Bruckheimer. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ was an unexpected success, with mostly positive reviews and rising almost 654 million dollars. The film became the first in a series, with two back-to-back sequels, ‘Dead man’s Chest’ and ‘At World’s End’ released. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards including ‘Best Actor’ for Johnny Depp and ‘Best Costume Design’.

Stijn Helsen worked in a team of costume designers on the outfit for Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Jeffry Rush. All the clothing for this main characters were fully made by hand. The ‘aging’ or ‘using’ as it is called, is done by people whose task it is to give new garments a ‘worn’ or ‘used’ look. Shirts were made in linen to give it a more authentic look, where coats and long waistcoats were made of interior fabrics and than washed and aged.
